  • Profile

Jorge Wong Medina’s research uses language as a lens for studying the relationship between individuals and communities in the Greek world from the Bronze Age onward. His area of expertise is the local and literary dialects of ancient Greece and their use in poetry. His current project focuses on the process by which the Ionic speaking poets of the Iliad and Odyssey borrowed linguistic features from the neighboring Lesbian Aeolic dialect and how this enduring socio-linguistic relationship shaped Homeric language.
